Heritage ICT Update

16 July 2019

Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s)

Following my notification yesterday regarding the ransomware attack on the school ICT system I am writing with a further update.

Technical support staff from across The Two Counties Trust have been onsite working to restore our systems since Sunday 14 July 2019. Whilst significant progress has been made in their efforts to restore our ICT system, this work has taken longer than initially hoped. Technical staff have prioritised restoring our information system to allow us to record attendance and absence, and access student level data to inform parent(s)/carer(s) of student absence. Unfortunately, the technical staff have not been able to restore this system to a position where it would be fully functioning by Thursday morning.

Following a review of our dynamic risk assessment this still presents a significant safeguarding concern and as such we are still in a position that the school will be closed on Thursday 18 July 2019 and Friday 19 July 2019.

This is not a decision I have taken lightly and recognise the huge disruption this will cause to families as well as students at the end of term, which is why I am notifying you of this decision today to allow sufficient time to make appropriate childcare arrangements. I sincerely apologise again for the disruption caused but feel that there is no other course of action that I can take.

I hope that you all have an enjoyable and safe summer break and we look forward to seeing all of our students back in school at 8.40am on Wednesday 4 September 2019.

Yours sincerely

Mr R Marlow
